Some great teamwork skills on display during the crate challenge this afternoon. One team got as high as 11 layers of crates but it was veeerrrrry wobbly. This carried on through our team building challenges. It was Knights Quest first which involved lots of thinking outside the box and riddle solving- the Lord of Dobroyd would have been proud to have this lot around his round table. Piranha Pool was next and it was very soggy but everybody got out with all 10 toes!! The children of Spring group nominated CC as their star of the day for today and Waterfall group nominated BH but Ms Tiplady and Miss Pope think everybody could have been awarded it as everyone shone in some way today. Very excited for canoeing and raft building in the morning as well as Dungeon of Doom - hopefully we managed to get everyone out before the bus leaves!!

Such a good first day. We started the day caving where we worked in groups to successfully rescue a person trapped underground. There was some serious body wiggling needed to get through the tunnels - at one point CD was worried he was going to be trapped behind Ms Tiplady FOREVER. Then there was the zip wire where people were worried about the height of the tower but they overcame their fears and whizzed to glory. There was some serious ninja shapes being thrown mid air. Nightline was next and some good leaders made themselves known, they demonstrated some very clear communication skills as they navigated a maze wearing a blindfold. Then there was trapeze where children overcame some wobbly legs to leap from a 4mtr post to grab on to a trapeze, Ms Tiplady and Miss Pope were seriously impressed. CD, DR and EH completed the bum challenge by making sure their bum touched the mat before any other part of their body. We finished the day with some team challenges, one being throwing an egg over the balcony of the castle, you'll be pleased to here that Bob and Geoff the eggs both made a safe landing in their team built parachutes. All in all a great first day, lots of tired but proud children have made their way to bed ready for another jam packed day tomorrow.
it was none stop!! We had climbing - it was like a scene from a Spider-Man movie, then we had archery followed by the heart stopping big swing. Everybody but Ms Tiplady managed to play it cool and not scream!
What a fantastic evening we had cheering on the dashers! We were very proud of how fast they ran in the heat. JA won his heat and had to run the whole race again in the final and came fourth overall. Well done everyone who took part! (including DW's mam who took part in the Parent Race) |
